Three full days of exhilarating big-band jazz culminated with the announcement of final awards when the 51st Annual Clark College Jazz Festival came to a close in late January.

For 2013, the Dale Beacock Memorial Sweepstakes trophy was awarded to Roosevelt High School from Seattle, Wash.

Middle school jazz ensemble final results:

1st place – Chief Umtuch Middle School, Battle Ground, Wash.; 2nd place – Hamilton International Middle School, Seattle, Wash.; 3rd place – Eckstine Middle School, Seattle, Wash.

Special recognition went to Beaumont Middle School from Portland, Ore., for being asked to perform in the evening finals.

1st place – Ridgefield High School Jazz, Ridgefield, Wash.; 2nd place – Northwinds Homeschool, Port Angeles, Wash.; 3rd place – Astoria High School, Astoria, Ore.

Special recognition went to Woodland High School for being asked to perform in the evening finals.
