Student of Color Luncheon

Students joined staff and faculty at Clark College’s annual Student of Color Luncheon in early June.

This year’s keynote speaker was Clark College Trustee Rekah Strong, who spoke about the important role students of color play as leaders in their communities. She shared her own life’s journey, offering advice and inspiration to her listeners.

Multicultural Retention Specialist Felisciana Peralta announced the recipients of the Constance Baker Motley Scholarship. Cetara Davis and Amjad Alkari each received a $500 scholarship.

Davis, who will attend Washington State University Vancouver after graduating from Clark, said, “It was a true blessing to win this scholarship because I have struggled for a long time to find financial provisions to help me get through school. … Although Clark College was not an original part of my blueprint, I have been extremely blessed to meet all of the incredible people I have here and to gain so much knowledge.”
